"What Future for Fisheries in the Adriatic-Ionian Basin?" conference on October, 29 and 30 will aim at creating a multi-level and multi-actor informal platform.

In the framework of the MED “Integrated Maritime Approach” call will be organized the first meeting of a series of five Capitalization meetings on "What Future for Fisheries in the Adriatic-Ionian Basin?"

Coordinated by COM & CAP MARINA-MED and ADRIGOV projects, the seminar aims at creating an informal platform bringing together the key stakeholders in charge of fisheries and aquaculture policies across the Adriatic-Ionian basin.

This event is the first step of a technical and political follow-up of the European Common Fisheries Policy. It will take place in Termoli, in Italy on the 29th and 30th of October.

During these two days, you will have:

  • A presentation of Good Practices on sustainable fishing practices, tourism activities related to fishing, co-management of marine protected areas…
  • An interactive session by MED-IAMER project with the aim to validate the methodology behind the exercise of analyzing the environmental status of the waters of the Adriatic-Ionian Basin.
  • A focus on cross-border and transnational cooperation with the aim to enhance the development of an integrated Maritime Policy in the Adriatic–Ionian basin

The main goal of these two days is to boost the dialogue between decision makers at all levels (local, national and European) and between decision makers, the private sector, NGOs and civil society. It will also give the opportunity to prepare 2014-2020 programming by creating new synergies.
