April 2014: The MED Capitalisation Week
The five MED capitalisation projects in the field of innovation and creative cluster are organising a joint conference on April, 2nd in Marseilles. Besides this joint conference, a serie of small scale project events will be organised (+ more).
During the joint conference 'The strategic role of transnational cooperation in enhancing competitiveness in the cultural and creative sector' focus will be put on smart specialization strategies: Targeted research and innovation support is a strategic element in the economic development of territories and in this context, smart specialization will be a crucial element of the new Cohesion Policy 2014-2020. The European Commission considers creative industries to bear high added value enhancing the regional competitiveness. MED and other cooperation projects can contribute effectively to this challenge while strengthening the competitiveness of creative industries in the Mediterranean area. The conference will be held in the two programme languages, English and French.
Call for project proposals on 'maritime approach'
Future projects of the very last call launched by the MED Programme 2007-2013 will concentrate on a maritime integrated approach inspired by the Commission’s Blue Growth strategy. 114 applications were submitted, whereof 80 were eligible. The evaluation is ongoing and projects will be selected on 9th April 2014 in the Programme Selection Committee.
The ongoing call represents an important bridging element between the two programming periods. By approving these one-year projects the programme aims to identify relevant actions on transnational level as the basis for future projects and related calls. A novum serving as essential experimentation and orientation for the future MED Programme is also the communication and capitalisation approach foreseen and initated: A communication and capitalisation strategy serving internal and external relations will be realized by one centralized project to be approved.
We will keep you updated about these projects laying ground for the future programme!
How to feed results into policy-making?
On 12th and 13th February 2014 a workshop for lead and communication partners of MED capitalisation projects was carried out in Brussels. The workshop was organised together with the Brussels regional representation office of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region and based on active exchanges and exercises with representatives of EU institutions, regional representation offices, intermediary and other actors.
Upcoming this summer: Communication Training
The workshop described above was elaborated for MED capitalisation partners. A more general communication training will be offered to MED project partners in June 2014. Following the tradition, this training is jointly organised with another programme: The SEE Programme. Since Slovenia is holding the presidency for both programmes in 2014, the training will be carried out in Bled, Slovenia.
